Personal information about staff, workers and job applicants
We hold your personal information for the purpose of administering and maintaining applications or employee records as may be required under your contract of employment or legislation and to keep you informed about employment, pension or benefits matters. This information is also shared with and administered by the University of Cambridge as follows:

What information do we collect about you and how do we use it?
We use the information you have supplied to us to enable your registration for a programme, programme administration and delivery, granting you access to our apps, VLE or WiFi, issuing certificates, alumni administration and communication, internal record keeping including payment, marketing and promoting JBSEEL and its programmes worldwide (where you have specifically consented to receiving this information), market research, programme rankings (such as FT rankings), improving JBSEEL’s products and services or statutory and public interest purposes.
If you are a research participant, we will hold your information in accordance with the terms of conditions applicable to the research study in which you choose to participate.
We use Snitcher to measure the business usage of the executive education section of our website. This service shows us the company names and addresses based on the IP addresses of our visitors. For Snitcher to distinguish between different visitors on our website, it sets a cookie named ‘SNID’ with a lifetime of two (2) years.
Our lawful bases for collecting and using your personal information
Depending on how you interact with us, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:
- Contract – where we need to collect or use your information so we can enter into or carry out a contract with you.
- Legal obligation – where we need to collect or use your information to comply with the law.
- Legitimate interests – where we collect or use your information because it is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, provided these are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
- Consent – where you have given us permission to use your information for a specific purpose, such as receiving marketing communications. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Our legitimate interests include administering and improving our programmes and services, maintaining accurate records, ensuring the security of our systems, supporting alumni activities, and, where applicable, administering employer-funded programme places.
Who will your information be shared with?
We do not share your information with any third parties outside JBSEEL other than those who have a legitimate interest in it to enable delivery and administration of all or part of our programmes, courses, initiatives or events or for alumni administration except with your explicit permission. To make your interactions with us as efficient as possible we may share your information with a call-handling company which manages phone calls for us. We may also share your information with third parties if we are under a duty to disclose it in order to comply with any legal obligation. We do not sell any information to third parties.
Where an organisation funds your place on one of our programmes, we may share limited information with that organisation, such as your name, the programme attended, and your attendance and/or completion status, where this is necessary to administer funded places, monitor programme participation and support participant development.
We may use AI-enabled services provided by third-party suppliers to support the administration of our programmes, improve our services or assist in the development of programme content. Where these services process personal information on our behalf, they do so under appropriate contractual and security arrangements and in accordance with applicable data protection law.
How long is your information kept for?
Your information is stored for as long as may be necessary to fulfil the purpose(s) set out above. This will usually be at least 1 (one) year following the last recorded transaction or interaction (unless consent is given for future marketing). For alumni and past attendees to our programmes we will keep a limited amount of information indefinitely as record of your completion of a programme or involvement with our work unless you request us otherwise.

When you visit any of the webpages within the www.jbs.cam.ac.uk domain we hold certain information about you for service and security reasons.
How can your information be accessed?
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you. Please email execed-dp@jbs.cam.ac.uk. We will respond within thirty (30) days.
You may also ask us to restrict the processing of your information or delete or correct any information you think is inaccurate. This right can be exercised by ticking certain boxes on the forms that we use to collect information, through clicking on the “unsubscribe” link in our emails or by emailing us directly at execed-dp@jbs.cam.ac.uk.
Sharing information outside the UK
Some of our service providers may process personal information outside the UK. Where this happens, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal information in accordance with UK data protection law.
How to make a complaint?
