Professional history
Karin Forseke is a senior international advisor and non-executive board member with a strong track record in building sustainable, successful organisations in the financial industry as well as public and non-profit sectors. A regular speaker on values-based leadership and the role of women in business and society, she was awarded a CBE by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the UK financial services industry.
Karin has had a career in the financial sector. She was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Carnegie Investment Bank AB in Sweden after turning around the bank’s operations in London and New York and was the first female CEO of a publicly listed investment bank in Sweden. She served as Chief Operating Officer of the London International Financial Futures Exchange, LIFFE, which at the time was one of the top 2 derivatives exchanges in the world, with around 4,000 traders and 800 staff. She has also served as Chair of Alliance Trust in the UK, Deputy Chair of the British Financial Services Authority (FSA) and was Private Advisor on privatisation to the Minister of Financial Markets and Local Government in Sweden, privatising a number of state-owned assets across industries.
Society and charity work
Karin has held a number of positions including Trustee of GirlsNotBrides, board member of Storasyster, a support organisation for victims of sexual violence, and Chair of the Investment Committee at the Royal Swedish Academy of Science. Among other things she is currently Chair of Drottningholm Palace Theater and Chair of the Swedish Government Inquiry on non-public financing of culture.
