Overview

CCCM focuses on research related to Chinese management in areas such as internationalisation strategies, M&A, technology acquisition, R&D, global alliances, e-commerce, digital enterprise, gender issues, leadership, marketing and branding. The Centre aims at producing the following academic output:

  • Top academic journals articles, chapters, edited volumes, working paper series and books on all aspects of Chinese management.
  • Business cases documenting the actual business practices of high performing Chinese enterprises.
  • The “Chinese Enterprise Globalisation index” for Chinese enterprises that are operating globally and also the list for “Top 100 Most Global Chinese Enterprises.”
  • A comprehensive database on leading Chinese firms along key dimensions based on public or proprietary sources.
  • PhD graduates specialising in Chinese management with leading universities or research institutes in China, UK or elsewhere.

The fundamental research philosophy of the Centre is deep engagement which underpins research across the Cambridge Judge Business School. It advocates research based on actual business phenomenon and real management problems which can only be understood through deeply engaging with enterprises in various ways. In essence, it is a research philosophy that emphasises relevance and applicability of research efforts while maintaining the needed academic vigour.

为了有效地承担中国企业发展和管理实践的记录者,总结者,传播者,开拓者和贡献者的角色和历史使命,中国管理研究中心采取实证研究为主的方式,在横向纵向两个维度展开,并结合西方管理研究的优势如数据分析和案例研究。

所谓纵向研究,就是选择中国最出色的8-10个中国企业,进行全方位地深入研究,力求完整翔实地记录这些企业在发展过程及管理实践的方方面面。这种解剖式研究和管理大师彼得德鲁克当年对通用汽车的研究方法类似。需要若干教授带领一个博士生团队进驻一个企业进行至少1-2年的跟踪研究。所谓横向研究,就是访谈改革开放四十年来在各个领域最具有影响力的成功和失败的企业家,通过他们各自的经历和心得来全方位了解中国民营企业的发展历史和经验。研究成果以“剑桥中国民营企业史”的形式出版。

另外,中国企业国际化是此中心的另一个研究重点,会针对诸多议题进行深入研究,如中国企业国际化战略,全球并购,全球创新战略,全球品牌战略,技术收购,全球战略整合,电子商务,数字化企业和全球人力资源管理等。研究成果将以以下的形式出现,如顶尖学术期刊,丛书和案例等。同时,此中心还要打造“中国企业国际化指数”用于衡量及评估中国各企业国际化的程度及表现。根据此指数,此中心还要每年推出“中国企业国际化百强排行榜”。此中心还会收集并整理专门针对于中国企业管理及国际化的数据库,打造全球最大的中国管理研究数据库。
