What to expect as an MSt student
Our MSt in Social Innovation is about more than just studying a curriculum.
On this 2-year, part-time programme, you’ll get a taste of life in Cambridge during the 4 one-week residentials and combine it with remote study from anywhere in the world.
While in Cambridge, you’ll join interactive workshops at Cambridge Judge Business School to consolidate and extend your online learning. You’ll spend a week at a time in this unique environment, meeting students from a diverse range of disciplines, experiencing the Cambridge traditions and gaining lifelong membership to the alumni community.
Outside of the programme, you’ll have time to explore this centuries-old city, studying in surroundings that have inspired some of the greatest innovators in history.
At the end, you’ll come away with a network of powerful contacts and inspiring friends – alongside the knowledge, skills and experience needed to help guide you in your journey towards social change.
The part-time nature of the course just suited my personal circumstances. I mean, it lets me work. It let me make my base in Melbourne. My family’s in Melbourne. But it also gives me an opportunity to experience a bit of Cambridge life. So it sort of ticked all the boxes."
College membership
Cambridge Judge is one of the only business schools in the UK to offer a College system, and it’s a key part of our programmes.
If you’re accepted onto the MSt in Social Innovation, you’ll be guaranteed College membership; the admissions team will apply directly to a College to secure your place.
Choosing the right College
Every College is different, ranging in size from 150 to 1,000 students. Some are hundreds of years old, while others are newer and more modern. Most have their own libraries, dining halls and bars – some even have their own sports facilities and theatres. They also run their own clubs and societies, adding to those on offer at the wider University.
In addition to being a temporary home, your College can also offer pastoral and financial support, and is responsible for arranging graduation.
College membership isn’t just about accommodation. It will give you the opportunity to grow your network beyond the Business School, broadening your horizons and providing influential connections to help inspire your next steps and open doors in the future.
Your community
From NGO leaders to corporate professionals, our students come from a wide variety of sectors, all united by a drive to address pressing social issues. You’ll mix with your cohort during the residentials, working on a group project and taking part in interactive workshops. Hear more from some of our students below.
At the heart of our community is the Cambridge Centre for Social Innovation – a platform that supports social innovators and ventures across the city and beyond. As a student on our MSt in Social Innovation, you’ll meet fellows of the Centre who carry out cutting-edge research in the sector.
The faculty at Cambridge Judge Business School is made up of around 80 members covering a wide range of research areas. Many are leaders in their field, combining professional experience with academic rigour. Our MSt in Social Innovation combines resident staff with external practitioners, who’ll provide real-world insight and hands-on training to help you get the most out of the programme.
As a Cambridge Judge alumnus, you’ll become part of a global, influential community of entrepreneurs and leaders, gaining a peer support network that will long stay with you. Our alumni are currently spread across more than 40 countries, and we arrange a number of local events throughout the year to keep the community connected.
